Objective

  1. To sensitize the students and alumni about the need of donating blood to the needy in time.
  2. To instil amongst the students and alumni the feeling of helping others to breathe life with their precious donation.
  3. To motivate all students and alumni to take a pledge to donate blood at least once in a year.
  4. To impart to them the value of blood donation.

Short Description

Students, alumni and employees were eagerly waiting for the blood donation camp. Accordingly, a large number of people had gathered near the Vivekananda Seminar Hall (AIT Seminar hall) at around 10am on 15th of July, 2022.The medical team from Medical College Hospital Blood Bank arrived at around 10: 30am.The process of registration had started earlier. Now forms were handed over by the medical team to interested donors. Immediately after form fill up health conditions were checked by the lady doctor in the medical team. she also probed about medical history. About 15 donors were requested not to donate blood because their health condition would not permit them to do so. Every donor was given a food packet, a certificate of appreciation and a small gift.

All the donors, medical team, in fact all participants considered this to be a very well managed event.

The blood donation camp was organised in association with Medical College Hospital Blood Bank with the intention of doing something for the society.

II. REGISTRATION

We floated a google form for registration. Applications of 60 Alumni, Students and Employee were accepted on a first-cum-first-serve basis.

IV. BITES

Short videos of a few alumni/students were made. They expressed their ecstasy on being able to participate in a social welfare programme as this one.

The blood donation camp had created a considerable amount of hype and people had gathered since early morning to ensure its success.

Outcome

  1. It increased the stock of blood with the State owned blood bank i.e. National Medical College, Government of West Bengal.
  2. The alumni and students learned the art of managing an event.
  3. Most of the students and alumni decided to donate blood once in a year.
